The Archival Description

This wall-mounted structure is composed of local Australian hardwood, selected for its density and tonal warmth. The timber serves as a substrate for a collection of nineteenth- and twentieth-century artifacts, including a vintage army mule shoe, forged railway spikes, and a telegraph insulator mount.

Once vital to the infrastructure of transit and communication, the metal elements have been cleaned and secured to the timber architecture. The resulting form occupies space with a utilitarian gravity, shifting these remnants from the field into an archival context without erasing their industrial origin.
